Pilot details & FAQs
We’re preparing free weekly math tutoring with community programs and recruiting student volunteers.
The proposed pilot
A starting point to discuss with your organization. Group size, teaching language, and schedule would be agreed before a pilot begins.
- Group
- Perhaps 8–12 learners, grouped by learning needs
- Focus
- Foundational mathematics
- Sessions
- Online · 60 minutes · once a week
- Review
- Learning checks and staff feedback
Instruction and materials would be free. Your program would need suitable devices, a reliable internet connection, and a coordinator. We cannot promise to provide equipment or internet service.
Practical questions
Is the tutoring really free?
Yes. The planned instruction and learning materials would be free to students and partner organizations. Local arrangements still matter: we cannot promise to supply devices, internet service, transport, or funding. We would discuss those needs before agreeing to a pilot.
How can my organization start a pilot?
Email us about your program, the students you serve, and their learning priorities. Together, we would discuss the group, schedule, teaching language, and technology before agreeing on a pilot.
Which students and subjects could be a fit?
We are starting with mathematics, especially foundational skills, for students facing barriers to extra academic support. A local organization would identify learners and help agree the grade range and learning goals. Science may follow as suitable volunteer capacity is confirmed; it is not an existing offering.
How would online sessions work?
We are planning 60-minute online math sessions, once a week. Learners would join through their community program using suitable devices and a reliable internet connection. Group size, teaching language, and schedule would be agreed with each organization.
Who would teach the sessions?
We are recruiting student volunteers with a strong understanding of mathematics and a commitment to preparing lessons and showing up regularly. Applications are reviewed, and teaching roles depend on partner needs.
Can a student or family enroll directly?
There is no public direct enrollment at this stage. We plan to work through community organizations, which would identify learners and coordinate participation. Families may email general questions, but we cannot guarantee individual placement. Please do not send student names or sensitive information.
Can high school students volunteer?
Yes. Our volunteer page has a short application with your name, email, an optional phone number, math-topic checkboxes, weekly availability, and two questions: why you want to volunteer and how you would teach a simple fractions problem. Applying does not guarantee a teaching placement; roles depend on pilot needs.
